York Benefits From UK Community Renewal Fund
November 3, 2021
Julian was excited to see that bids from York had been successful in the first round of funding from the UK Community Renewal Fund. Archaeology on Prescription will receive £122,123 and Street Life will receive £469,765.
The UK Community Renewal Fund is another key part of the Government’s levelling up agenda and will ensure that no place is left behind. It will operate alongside the Levelling Up Fund and Community Ownership Fund which were announced by the Chancellor at Budget on the 27 October. While the Levelling Up Fund focuses on infrastructure programmes and the Community Ownership Fund on enabling communities to own and manage local community assets, the UK Community Renewal Fund will help support local areas to pilot imaginative new approaches and programmes that unleash their potential, instil pride, and prepare them to take full advantage of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The three funds will come together to ensure that towns, villages and coastal communities across the United Kingdom are supported to deliver our levelling up ambitions.
The UK Community Renewal Fund will support communities right across the UK to pilot new approaches by investing in skills, supporting local businesses and communities, and supporting people into employment. This round of funding will see investment in 477 projects across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
