The York ME Community
November 23, 2015
Last week Julian met with Bill Clayton, a Fulford resident, who recently created the ‘The York ME Community’ website. It was established to raise awareness of ME and act as a community space for sufferers, carers and those simply wishing to know more about the condition.
It is thought around 250,000 people suffer from ME, also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) in the UK, however so little is still known about this condition, and there is currently no accepted cure and no universally effective treatment. It can affect all age groups and commonly leads to severe and debilitating fatigue; painful muscles and joints and poor memory and concentration.
Commenting Julian said:
“It is brilliant to hear a group such as this has been formed, I think it is an excellent way of bringing people together who suffer from ME in the York area, and I welcome all the work Mr Clayton has done to establish this community group. I know that Mr Clayton has been living with ME for the last 9 years, therefore I applaud his work in raising awareness of this debilitating condition.”
Julian has promised to raise this matter in Parliament with the Department of Health, and for more information over this condition and to see the work the York ME Community is doing, please visit http://www.york-me-community.org/.
