Julian welcomes announcement to save New Earswick Swimming Pool

December 19, 2018

Julian is delighted to hear the news that Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) is to hand over the running of the Pool to the Friends of New Earswick Swimming Pool campaigning group (FoNESP) on 31 December 2018. A 25-year lease has been agreed and FoNESP will take on full responsibility for the management and upkeep of this highly valued community asset.

Since JRHT announced the proposed closure of the Pool over a year ago, Julian has supported FoNESP throughout this difficult process who have worked tirelessly and campaigned hard to reach agreement with JRHT and secure the long-term future of the Pool.

Commenting Julian said “I am delighted that talks between JRHT and FoNESP have concluded with such a positive result. This announcement secures the future of New Earswick Swimming Pool which is used and valued by so many different groups on a daily basis.

I would like to wish FoNESP all the very best with their long-term running of New Earswick Swimming Pool. I am sure it will be a great success and will continue to be a vital hub for the local community.”
