Local Coronavirus Update

Since my last weekly vaccine update, family and friends have been able to enjoy the warm weather meeting up outside in groups of up to six. At York’s several vaccine sites, preparations have been made to prepare for April – the month of second doses – and we have seen rates of full vaccination steadily tick up with some days now even seeing more second doses than firsts. Through it all, York’s case rate has remained low and hospitalisations continue to fall offering more optimism that the pandemic is truly coming to an end.
In the Humber, Coast and Vale Health and Care Partnership, which stretches across North Yorkshire to North Lincolnshire, 969,453 doses had been administered as of Monday. As of the beginning of this week, nearly 200,000 of these doses were administered within the Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group, including at the Askham Bar vaccination site.
Nationally, milestone after milestone seems to be reached with over 31,000,000 people now having received a single dose and yesterday saw over 400,000 second doses being administered out of a total 646,828 inoculations showing that our system has the capacity to keep up the pace of vaccination.
