Local Coronavirus Update

March 12, 2021

As each week goes by, our amazing vaccine rollout programme goes from strength to strength with over twenty-three million vaccine doses having been administered across the country. In North Yorkshire and York alone, over 375,000 people have been inoculated, including 38,000 of my constituents in York Outer.

Within the Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group area, 92.4% of those over 60 have received a jab as those in priority groups 8 and 9 will begin to be invited for their vaccine. Second doses have also begun meaning that those who had their first jab in December will soon have the maximum protection offered by the vaccine.

The Government is on course to hit its target of offering a first vaccine dose to roughly 32 million people in the top nine priority groups by 15 April, and it will then move onto offering the rest of the population a jab by the end of July. Although recent newspaper reports suggest that with increased vaccine supply, this target could be brought forward

If you believe you know someone who has been overlooked for a vaccine appointment, those 55 or over, on the Shielded Patient List or a frontline health or social care worker can book a test here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/
