Statement from Julian Following Terror Attack in Westminster

Yesterday’s events in Parliament and on Westminster Bridge were a shock to us all. This was a heinous and cowardly crime, and my thoughts and prayers and with the victims and their families.
I would like to pay tribute to the security services who put themselves in harm’s way every day to keep Parliament and the public safe. The death of PC Keith Palmer is a tragedy. His service and bravery, along with all the emergency services who were so professional yesterday, must be remembered.
The police in and around Parliament are very friendly and engaging, and we must never take them for granted. Their swift action stopped this terrorist incident escalating further and claiming more lives.
Yesterday was a tragic day, but I hope that it will be remembered for the bravery of those who came to the aid of the injured: the emergency services, members of the public, nearby doctors and nurses, and Members of Parliament.
This was an attack on the heart of democracy and the mother of all Parliaments, but we will go on as normal whilst remembering the injured and those who lost their lives. Britain will always be defiant in the face of terror.
