Julian Deeply Saddened by Tragic Death of Jo Cox

June 17, 2016

Julian has expressed his sadness following the tragic loss of Yorkshire MP Jo Cox yesterday.

In a statement Julian said:

“I was deeply shocked to hear that Jo Cox had been killed outside one of her advice surgeries in Birstall yesterday. My thoughts and prayers are with her young family, her husband, and close friends who have lost an incredible person. In her short time in Parliament Jo made a big impression. I was in the Chamber when she made her powerful maiden speech and it was clear that she had a great future ahead of her. She was also one of the MPs who signed a joint letter on changes to guardianship for missing people put forward by Kevin Hollinrake, Rachael Maskell and myself.

“As many have said Jo was a strong campaigning MP who was very well respected on all sides of the House. She died working for her constituents, the first duty of every MP, and she will be remembered for her caring nature, her intellect, and her strong character. ”
