Julian welcomes £200 million of Chinese investment in York

October 21, 2015

Welcoming today’s announcement, Julian has said that businesses across York must seize the opportunity to benefit from improved links with China.

As Vice-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for China, Julian has agreed to work in partnership with the China-Britain Business Council to help York businesses boost exports and attract inward investment from China.

Speaking about the today’s deal, Julian said “I am delighted that the university will benefit from record levels of Chinese investment, and we must make sure that businesses from across York also profit from improved access to Chinese markets.

“This fantastic deal demonstrates the scale of Chinese investment on offer and I am delighted that the China-Britain Business Council has agreed to share their expertise with local businesses in identifying potential business opportunities in China.

“It is my hope that the seminar will showcase the very best that York and North Yorkshire has to offer, making it clear to international investors that the region open for business.”

A China Business Seminar will take place in York later in the year and Julian is encouraging local businesses that are interested in attending to get in touch. Further details will be announced in due course.
