Julian Dismayed at Local Health Bosses U-Turn on IVF
August 8, 2014
Julian has today expressed his profound disappointment with yesterday’s announcements that the Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group has voted not to offer any free cycles of IVF to couples this year, due to financial constraints.
Less than two months ago, in June, it had been hoped that IVF would finally be offered on the NHS in York, after the CCG announced they had agreed a criteria for the treatment. However, at yesterdays meeting of the CCG’s Governing Body the proposal was sidelined on a 5-4 vote, meaning that the vale of York remains the only area in the country where no free cycles of IVF are being offered.
Commenting Julian said: “There’s no doubt in my mind that Vale of York CCG is backtracking. This means York will be the only area not to offer at least one cycle of IVF, and this leaves my constituents once again at a disadvantage compared to people in neighbouring areas like Harrogate, Scarborough and Ryedale.”
He has vowed to continue to campaign for the CCG to review its position on IVF and for fairer health funding for our area from central Government.
