Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2017

March 7, 2017

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of National Apprenticeship Week, Julian visited apprentices working at the National STEM Learning Centre in York.

This year’s National Apprenticeship Week runs from 6-10 March 2017, and will be celebrated with events across the UK.The yearly occasion recognises the positive impact that apprenticeships have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

Speaking after his visit, Julian said: “I am delighted to support this year’s National Apprenticeship Week, which celebrates opportunities for young people to learn whilst they earn. Apprenticeships are fantastic routes into exciting careers as they enable young people to get the critical industry experience that is so important to employers today.”

Julian met with a number of apprentices undertaking a range of programmes and was impressed with the facilities and resources available at the Centre which is situated on the University of York’s main campus in Heslington.

The National STEM Learning Centre is home to apprentices working in diverse roles – from marketing to laboratories, and facilities to finance. It is also part of the National STEM Learning Network which works to achieve a world-leading education for all young people in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
