Julian welcomes local businesses to York as part of Family Business Week

To celebrate Family Business Week, bosses of some of Yorkshire’s largest and most successful businesses came to Parliament. The theme of this year’s Family Business Week is “Future Leaders” and events have sought to shine a spotlight on innovative leaders that are shaping the future of family business for the next generation.

Earlier this month, Family Business UK released its first-ever Manifesto. The document sets out a list of key policy recommendations that can provide “enormous potential of the family business sector to support economic growth, family businesses, their workforce, and society at large”. Speaking after the reception, Julian said:

“Family businesses are the cornerstone of our economy and in York we have so many to celebrate, such as Pavers and the Shepherd Group to name a few.While these examples are long established, it is exciting to see a new generation of future leaders emerging with fresh ideas and the enthusiasm to take them forward.

“The Government has a duty to support them so their full potential can be achieved.A healthy family business sector means a growing economy and more jobs. Lets all gets behind them and reap the collective rewards”
