Julian visits Barclays Eagle Lab at the Guildhall

Today, Julian visited the new Barclays Eagle Lab at the refurbished Guildhall. This Eagle Lab is a new partnership between Barclays and the University of York to support founders and entrepreneurs to innovate and grow.
What started out initially as an idea to use under utilised branch space has now grown to 34 sites with different labs specialising in different sectors guided by the location. There are Eagle Labs specialising in AgriTech, HealthTech, LawTech, GamesTech, Digital Security, and much more.
Eagle Labs are especially vital to nurturing York’s startups and allowing them to scaleup to a point where they have grown beyond the coworking space at the Guildhall so are ready to take the next step on their business journey.
Speaking after the visit Julian said:
This Eagle Lab will be so crucial to growing and diversifying York’s economy as up until now it has often been believed that you had to leave York to take your start up to Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester or another city.
This is not the case and with the mentoring service on offer at our city’s very own Eagle Lab I hope more new businesses are founded, stay and grow in our city.”
