At the General Election, residents in York Outer voted in large numbers to return Julian as their local Member of Parliament, with a significantly increased share of the vote.

Julian has said that he enjoyed every minute of the campaign as he was able to visit every part of the constituency and meet as many people as possible along the way. Having been one of the busiest MPs over the past five years, Julian was delighted that he was able to more than triple his majority, which increased by almost 10,000 votes.

Speaking at the election count when the result was announced, Julian said “It has been an absolute honour and privilege to represent the wonderful constituency of York Outer over the last five years and I am delighted that people have put their trust in me to serve another term in Parliament.

“My priorities locally are very much to continue with the protection of the greenbelt, make sure we get the infrastructure improvements we need for our great city, secure fairer and better funding for our local NHS, and make sure we deliver a strong economy to continue to provide growth to the business community.”

With the Conservative Party winning an overall majority, Julian is now looking forward to working with the Government to implement the Manifesto in full, including tax cuts for low and middle earners, increased spending on the NHS, and a referendum on our membership of the European Union.

Julian remains committed to doing his best to help all of his constituents, regardless of how they voted.

Commenting further, Julian said “It has been extremely important to me over the last five years to be accessible to all as a local MP, and I pride myself on that record. As we enter a new five year parliament I remain as  determined as ever to continue with and improve where I can on that commitment.”  Please watch out on our website for forth coming surgeries and drop in sessions coming up.
