Julian Supports The Martin House ‘Good Night’s Sleep’ Appeal

November 20, 2013

On Saturday, York Outer MP Julian Sturdy helped raise much needed funds for the Martin House Good Night’s Sleep Appeal by packing bags at Sainsburys in Haxby, raising nearly £300.

Afterwards Julian said: ‘I am so pleased to be able to support this important campaign. As a father of two young children I know only too well how difficult it can be to get as much sleep as you need. It’s clearly a much bigger problem for families with children who suffer from long term illness. The work which Martin House does to support these children and their families is truly incredible and I am delighted as a local MP to be able to lend my support to a local charity, raising awareness and much needed funds for the appeal.

The Good Night’s Sleep appeal is being run in conjunction with BBC Radio York, and aims to raise £120,000 to provide five night’s care for each family in North Yorkshire who are patrons of the hospice. Julian is the first of the North Yorkshire MPs to respond to the challenge to raise money for the charity appeal.
