Julian Supports Community Radio
May 15, 2020
Julian recently wrote to the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to request swift and urgent support for community radio stations.
For the majority of communities, the only dedicated local broadcaster they have comes from community licensees. In these unprecedented times, there has never been a greater need for local radio.
In York we are lucky, as we have BBC Radio York which serves the city of York and wider areas as well as several hyper local community radio station which work in tandem to deliver benefit the public.
Julian is pleased the Government have recognised the contribution of community radio with the launch of the Community Radio Fund and its reassurances that it will be monitoring the impact of Covid-19 on local radio during the next spending review period.
Julian will be following the situation closely and invites community radio stations to contact him if they require assistance.
