June 28, 2023
Following the release of a worrying Healthwatch York report on mental health services, Julian raised concerns directly with the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care as he updated Parliament on efforts to improve inpatient services across the country.
ulian asked the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care a question in the chamber following his Ministerial Statement on improving mental health in patient services across the country.
The report commissioned by Healthwatch York found that communication is a clear concern and affecting mental health outcomes and safety locally. As with anything, communication is key, and a vital part of ensuring the delivery of faster and better outcomes.
After leaving the Chamber, Julian commented:
“I welcomed the Minister’s response where he pointed to the Primary Care Recovery Plan recent recommendations made in the Rapid Review commissioned by Ministers to improve the way data and information is used in relation to patient safety in mental health inpatient care settings and pathways, including for people with a learning disability and autistic people.
We must make sure that we harness the potential offered by increased data sharing to ensure time is not wasted in delivering the best support and environment to those with mental health conditions.”
