Julian raises case for ring road expansion with Prime Minister

October 10, 2013

Julian has appealed to the Prime Minister for assistance in securing the necessary investment for dualling York’s northern outer ring road.

Julian welcomed the Prime Minister to the constituency earlier today, before he hosted a ‘PM Direct’ Q&A session with employees at the Portakabin site, near Monks Cross.

In a private conversation with Mr Cameron, Julian highlighted the daily congestion problems experienced on the northern outer ring road and he suggested it was preventing the local economy from achieving its full potential.

The Prime Minister agreed to consider the issue and assist Julian as he looks to get it included in the government’s road programme.

On the PM’s recent visit, Julian said:

“I was delighted to welcome the Prime Minister to the constituency and I was pleased to be involved in facilitating his discussion session with staff at the Portakabin site. Portakabin’s expansion over recent years is a great success story for our local economy and it’s clearly a well deserving company for the Prime Minister to visit.

“I also welcomed the opportunity of raising with him what I feel is one of the most important issues holding back local businesses: our deeply congested northern outer ring road. I am hopeful that the Prime Minister will support me in trying to achieve the investment we need.”
