Julian meets with OneBanx to promote access to cash

November 21, 2022

Julian recently attended a Westminster Drop-in event hosted by OneBanx and Patricia Gibson MP, highlighting the importance of preventing the continuing decline of bank branches and free access to cash across the UK.

OneBanx have developed a cost-effective pop-up kiosk which provides face-to-face personal and SME banking services on behalf of multiple banks and financial service providers in financially-excluded communities.

While the Financial Services and Markets Bill is a welcome step towards protecting our communities, it is vital now more than ever that we ensure proactive solutions, such as shared banking hubs, are utilised to prevent even more communities from being left behind.

Julian has signed an amendment to the Financial Services and Markets Bill which protects free access to cash. This is important in York Outer given the decline in bank branches in recent times.

After meeting with OneBanx, Julian said:

“OneBanx are revolutionising access to cash in our communities and offer bank services fit for the reality of the 21st century. I will not hesitate to recommend to local communities to put in an expression of interest for a OneBanx service to ensure residents can still have access to cash on their doorstep.”
