York Press column: All action ahead of Easter

It has been a jam-packed couple of weeks since my last column where I had an opportunity to reflect on the Chancellor’s Budget. I want to begin by highlighting the fantastic news that inflation has dropped to 3.4 per cent – the lowest in two and a half years. When the Prime Minister came to

Julian meets with GRIDSERVE in Westminster

September 8, 2022

This morning, Julian, visited the GRIDSERVE presentation on electric car charging points near Westminster. GRIDSERVE are the UK’s largest electric vehicle charging point provider and generate the electricity they use to power their charging points using solar energy farms, one of which is situated in York.

Julian has long supported the expansion of the electric car use in York Outer and around the UK as a whole. As we move transition away from petrol and diesel cards, electric car manufacturing and the associated network infrastructure is an expanding industry which will provide many skilled jobs. GRIDSERVE is currently working towards constructing an Electric Forecourt in York, due to be completed in 2024. Electric Forecourts® serve as an EV community hub allowing customers to grab a coffee, do a quick shop, test drive and lease a car as well as charge with the latest and fastest charging technology. Fast charging technology will no doubt have improved significantly, once again, in 2024 making the arguments for moving away from petrol and diesel cars even more compelling.

Speaking after the event Julian said:

“I am keen to see the people of York Outer benefit from these schemes that ma aid us as we move into a new, greener world and collaborating with companies such as GRIDSERVE is of ever greater importance.”
