Julian inspects accident hotspot in Huntington

February 16, 2023

Since 2018, there has been 4 traffic accidents on the bend in the Old Village, Huntington, which has resulted in damage to properties and left many residents fearing when the next accident will take place.

Following calls from constituents to support the implementation of traffic calming mechanisms, Julian visited the Village to see the damage from the most recent accident and assess the traffic calming measures currently in place

Following the visit, Julian commented:

“I support the requests made by residents to see some form of traffic calming introduced to ensure that the potential for accidents is limited and a future fatality avoided.

Given that 4 traffic accidents have occurred since 2018, including two years where the pandemic supressed car use, it is clear the current measures are inadequate.

It is disappointing that residents have so far been ignored by City of York Council but I hope I can bring about a resolution to make the Old Village a safer street in the future.”
