Julian Celebrates Work of Local Food Bank
July 8, 2015
Julian has applauded the work of local Trussell Trust volunteers after visiting and helping out at a recent food bank collection in a York Outer supermarket.
He spent time helping the volunteers at the Tesco’s at Clifton Moor on Friday. The Trussell Trust, one of the largest food bank organisations in the UK with approximately 30,000 volunteers, had been running a collection in the store throughout the weekend.
Commenting, Julian said:
“Food banks provide an incredibly valuable service, and I would like to pay tribute to the hardworking volunteers who give up their time week in week out to help run them. People visit food banks for a variety of reasons and it is of course highly undesirable that anybody should be in a position where they feel the need to do so. Nevertheless, I’m pleased that so many local residents are supporting the vital work these charities do by donating so generously.”
