Julian Backs Battle of Fulford Crowdfunder

June 3, 2016

Julian has given his support to a crowdfunder appeal launched to make the site of the Battle of Fulford accessible to the public on its 950th anniversary.

The Battle of Fulford took place in 1066 between Kind Harald Hardrada’s Viking Army and the Northern English Army. It preceded the battle of Stanford Bridge six days later at which King Harold destroyed the Viking army. Three weeks after that King Harold was killed at the battle of Hastings.

Back in 2015 Julian toured the site with his family and archaeologist Chas Jones (pictured) who is leading the crowdfunding appeal.

More information about the funding appeal, along with a foreword from Dan Snow, can be found be following this link: http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/1066-battle-of-fulford/

Commenting Julian said, “I am more than happy to give my support to this funding campaign. It was fantastic to see the important archaeological work which was being carried out by Chas and his team back in 2015 on this site of huge historical importance.”
