Flooding Update: Naburn
December 31, 2015
Yesterday Julian was out and about in Naburn talking to local residents and assessing the impact of the flooding as water levels receded.
Julian met with Councillor Suzie Mercer, the Parish Council, and representatives from the Environment Agency to discuss the next steps forward to help the village recover.
Sadly a number of properties have flooded in Naburn, including some on Palmes Close where Julian met with residents who had been affected and discussed their concerns.
Following his meeting with Cllr Mercer, Julian said “It is shocking to think that where I am standing now would have been waist deep in floodwater just a couple of days ago. Thankfully water levels are now falling quickly and residents are able to return to their homes.”
“It is essential that the threat of flooding does not continue to hang over the village and I will continue to work closely with the Flood Working Group to help find a long term solution to the problem of flooding in Naburn”.
If you have been affected by the flooding and Julian can be of assistance in any way, please do not hesitate to contact him on Julian.Sturdy.MP@Parliament.uk
