EFRA Committee Publish Report on Transporting Animals and Pet Smuggling

September 30, 2021

The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee, of which Julian is a member, has today published their Moving Animals Across Borders report. The report examines post-Brexit issues including pet smuggling, live animal movements with Northern Ireland and the European Union, moving horses, and biosecurity.

On pet theft, the Committee welcomes moves by the Conservative Government to toughen rules on travelling with pets but believe more can be done to improve enforcement, increase prosecution rates and ensure those found guilty are given harsher penalties.
