Consultation Begins on Strensall with Towthorpe Village Design Statement
August 4, 2014
On Monday 21st July, a public consultation began on Strensall with Towthorpe’s Village Design Statement (VDS), which will last until Sunday 7th September.
After working closely with the group responsible for producing the VDS and taking part in previous surveys, Julian has called on all Strensall and Towthorpe residents to engage in the process and have their say on how the village should look in years to come.
Copies of the VDS are on display at the Village Hall, Strensall Library and the Mobile Library, as well as at the City of York Council’s West Offices Reception. The document can be viewed in full on the VDS Working Group’s website (www.strenthorpevds.co.uk) and on the City of York Council’s website at www.york.gov.uk/VDSconsultation.
Commenting, Julian said: “I have always been a stronger supporter of localism in the planning system and Village Design Statements are really important means for communities to take steps towards having greater responsibility over development in their areas. I pay tribute to the VDS Working Group, who have clearly put a lot of time and energy into producing this excellent document and I encourage all residents to take the time to read and respond to it as part of the ongoing consultation.”
Recently, Julian has worked with Parliamentary colleagues to produce a report on greenbelts, which calls on the Government to give greater control to local communities by strengthening neighbourhood planning. Click here to read more.
