City of York Council given road budget boost by Government

City of York Council is set to receive a boost of £24,000,000 from Government over the next decade to improve local roads so everyone can enjoy smoother, safer, and faster journeys. This is in addition to funding agreements already in place.

This funding is part of the Government’s Network North strategy and will invest a total of £8.3 billion, enough to resurface over 5,000 miles of roads across the country, saving motorists up to £440 on vehicle repairs and creating smoother, safer and easier journeys for all.

City of York Council will receive £360,000 this financial year, followed by a further £360,000 for 2024-25, as part of a long-term funding plan through to 2034
