York Press column: All action ahead of Easter

It has been a jam-packed couple of weeks since my last column where I had an opportunity to reflect on the Chancellor’s Budget. I want to begin by highlighting the fantastic news that inflation has dropped to 3.4 per cent – the lowest in two and a half years. When the Prime Minister came to

Celebrating Naburn Primary School’s 150th Anniversary

September 29, 2022

Julian was honoured to join staff, parents, teachers and local residents celebrating the 150th anniversary of Naburn Primary School. The anniversary was ever more poignant given the recent difficulties involving OFSTED but on the day there was no doubt from those in attendance that the school deserved and should go on for at least another 150 years.

Children marked the occasion by immersing themselves in Victorian schooling reciting lines, singing Victorian songs and marching through the village as the original pupils had done on the opening day of the school.

After attending the celebratory tea party, Julian said:

“It is clear from the turnout today that no one is going to be able to close this school without a real fight. All stakeholders are working together to celebrate and protect a real community asset.

I want to pay tribute to the teachers, headmaster Jonathan Green, Anne Clark and her governors, parents and everyone involved making the school a fantastic start to our young children’s education.”
