Julian meets with Network Rail regarding Copmanthorpe Level Crossing

January 17, 2023

Julian was pleased to attend a meeting with Network Rail to discuss progress and developments regarding Copmanthorpe rail crossing this morning.

Following the tragic death of an individual on the tracks in the Copmanthorpe area in November 2022, the importance of securing a safe crossing from one side of the track to the other has become more prevalent.

Julian recognises that the debate over what form this rail crossing will take, and its location, has caused much local speculation and debate and has remained resolute in his belief that network rail must provide further information to and engagement with the local community on the proposed option.

Overall, the primary benefit of the closure of the rail crossing, despite its obvious inconvenience, is reducing the risk of an accident and fatality occurring once again.

Julian looks forward to Network Rail representing the public consultations to the local community for their opinion and scrutiny in due course.
