2,600 civil service jobs coming to York

March 1, 2023

It is fantastic to see the Government recognise the potential of the York Central site by choosing to base one of their northern hubs in our city. 2600 Cabinet Office jobs with the potential for other departments to follow is a huge vote of confidence in the regeneration project and Julian hopes this will be the first of many tenants choosing to relocate to York.

Julian met with Baroness Neville-Rolfe in January to discuss their shared passion for the places for growth programme which will allow someone from York to have a full career in the civil service with many opportunities for promotion without having to relocate to London.

Speaking after the announcement, Julian said:

“Our city is full of talent which will be harnessed by the 6500 new, high quality jobs delivered by the York Central regeneration scheme. The Cabinet Office is a great start but, with only a month left to a formal announcement, all energies must now be focussed on bringing Great British Railways to York. “
