About Julian

Julian is a working farmer from the York village of Tockwith where he lives with his wife Victoria and two children, George and Florence.

Julian, a Yorkshireman born and bred who has a tendency to call a spade a spade, has a proven reputation for getting things done. As an effective local campaigner he has been fighting to save our post offices, supporting local shops, running road safety campaigns, fighting to protect our Green Belt and holding regular local surgeries across the new constituency. He believes that local communities should be at the heart of society and is passionate about keeping them there.

Julian says "As someone who has grown up and worked in the area all my life, being local helps me to understand the issues and challenges that people have in York and the surrounding villages. I care passionately about our local community because this is my local community, and the issues that affect you affect me and my family."

Effective Campaigning

Since being selected as the Conservative candidate in the new York Outer seat in 2006 Julian has campaigned vigorously on numerous issues affecting the area including post office closure, road safety initiatives and fighting tirelessly to protect York’s Green Belt.

In addition to dealing with individual residents concerns on a daily basis, Julian holds regular surgeries, giving local people the chance to meet with him and discuss any issues or concerns they may have. So far these surgeries have been hugely popular throughout the constituency.

Outside Politics

When Julian has any spare time he tries to spend as much time as possible with his young family, but he is also a keen sports fan.

He is a lifelong support of Yorkshire County Cricket and Leeds United football club. Once a year Julian is also privileged enough to be a senior Steward at the Great Yorkshire show, a job he enjoys immensely.
